Erin Botti is interested in creating assistive in-home robots for older adults and people with MCI. Her PhD research focuses on how to design intuitive algorithms that enable people to communicate their preferences to robots. Specifically, she develops learning from demonstration algorithms, where people can show the robot how they want a task completed. Through focus groups and user studies with older adults, she working on improvements to interfaces and learning from demonstration algorithms to be intuitive and usable for older adults.
