Research Engineer in Prof. Larry Heck's A.I. Virtual Assistant (AVA) lab at Georgia Tech, where he works on developing next-generation virtual assistants and supporting integrations/collaborations with other research projects. Generally, John's research interests center on Machine Learning, Algorithms, and Cognitive Science. As part of the AI-Caring Interactive Arena group, he has been focused on developing a conversational agent platform that is more tailored to the needs and preferences of aging adults and their caregivers, especially people with Mild Cognitive Impairment. This system is primarily powered by Large Language Models (LLM) and other innovative research in Natural Language Processing (NLP).
