I am interested in how robot systems and algorithms should be designed to enable seamless interaction among humans and multiple robots and intelligent systems. In AI-CARING, I am interested in how smart assistants and robots can leverage other information sources (e.g., smart home sensor readings, activity recognition) to provide meaningful and more effective assistance to both adults with Mild Cognitive Impairment and their care partners. I am looking at (1) how smart assistants can summarize and present longitudinal activity data about the older adult to a remote care partner, (2) how a household assistive robot can leverage smart home sensors to be more efficient and effective at its tasks, and (3) how to design effective reminder and notification systems that integrate smart home sensors to help adults with Mild Cognitive Impairment and their care partners during meal preparation.
